Pre-Pilgrimage Tips
Don't forget your passport! And make sure it will not expire during your trip or even within a few months after your trip. If you're from a country other than the USA, check online for entry requirements to Croatia and Bosnia-Hercegovina.
Be sure to bring enough prescription medicines for your trip. If they are crucial to your health, bring extra for any delays going home. Be aware, however, that many prescriptions can be found at the pharmacy in Medjugorje.
Check the weather! The weather forecast for Medjugorje (or nearby Citluk) will show you the temperatures for your trip if you check a few days out. Weather can change quickly and vary from hot to cold, so we recommend you plan accordingly.
Adapters! Don't forget to bring some US to EU electric adapters. Note, you only need the simple adapters for most electronics. Some heavy duty ones, like hair driers, may need a converter.
Check your tickets! Be sure you check your flight plans and tickets before leaving to make sure everything is correct, especially your name on your ticket.
Have a nice flight! And this is not just up to chance. Check your seat assignments before you check-in. If you prefer a different seat, the airline can likely change it for you (such as an aisle or window seat). Or, they can help arrange for you to sit with your friends or family. Also, it is easy to get dehydrated on planes. Drink lots of water.
Pray and relax! Many pilgrims say they experience "roadblocks" and troubles before their pilgrimage, but after they arrive, their worries disappear. Try to be in prayer before your journey.
Get adjusted! There is a big time difference between Europe and the Americas, so we recommend trying to slowly shift your sleep habits and times ahead of your trip so that you're better adjusted when you arrive.
Start your trip early with the App! As a Stella Mar pilgrim, the Stella Mar section is just for you and those who will join you. Start out by introducing yourself on our private, pilgrim-only social media platform, PilGram. And, check out your Pilgrim Card, which entitles you to some great perks in Medjugorje that we'll tell you about when you arrive. In the Schedule section, you can see our tentative daily schedule. Also, see the Coupon section for deals on our books, films, and other items, and visit the other links to learn more about our work. In the public part of the app, you'll also find many more great resources to make your pilgrimage even better.
See you soon! We can't wait for you to experience the beauty and joy of Medjugorje and what many people call "Our Lady's school of prayer." Thank you for joining Stella Mar Pilgrimages.
